A little about me
Barry Jones has an encyclopaedic knowledge of plant and machinery – which is understandable since he’s been working around clearing sales since the early 1970s.
One of country Victoria’s few fully qualified and registered plant and machinery valuers, Barry works all over Victoria, with his extensive clearing-sales skills and rural knowledge making him a valuable asset to the Kevin Hicks Real Estate team.
Barry, who unsurprisingly enjoys restoring antique furniture, loves working in the industry. “Between real estate, clearing sales and plant and machinery valuations, the employment is both challenging and interesting!”
As for what he particularly loves about the Kevin Hicks Real Estate team, the Cobram born grandfather simply says “everything”.
He also enjoys everything the Goulburn Valley region has to offer. “Greater Shepparton is a great place; it has everything of a big city, with good schools and medical facilities, but with a real country atmosphere.”
Barry’s favourite real estate moment is somewhat tongue in cheek.
“It was the day we inspected a falling-down, dilapidated, full-of-white ants unused church in the middle of nowhere. We suggested to the owner that if she was lucky enough to get her money back – $3,500 – she should take it. Four weeks later at auction we sold the old building for $95,000 to a Melbourne professional person for removal. However, all this time later, the church is still there – and in the same, if not worse, condition!”
