History: how Kevin Hicks Real Estate came to be
Kevin Hicks began his career straight out of school at the age of 17 when he began working with the highly respected Des O’Shea as a livestock agent.
During his time with D.J. O’Shea & Company, Des taught Kevin the highly prized skills of auctioneering and all aspects of livestock. Seeing the young Kevin’s enthusiasm for getting his clients the best result while always sticking to his strong ethics, Des encouraged Kevin to study for his real estate licence, which he gained in 1989. Because he believes strongly in ethics and ongoing training, Kevin has been a member of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) since 2006. (See more about what that means for us.)
Some years later, Kevin and fellow agent Charles Medland formed stock and station agency Medland & Hicks, selling livestock and property for many years.
With a desire to concentrate just on real estate, Kevin sold his share of the business to Charles, and in 2001, he and wife Fiona established their own business: Kevin Hicks Real Estate. In 2004, they bought Geoff Dobson Real Estate’s rent roll and took on that’s business’s staff, which included Geoff himself (now retired) and Kevin’s former mentor Des O’Shea.
In 2006, Kevin Hicks Real Estate again expanded, buying Stewart & White’s commercial rent roll. With that purchase came the highly experienced Ron Stewart (also now retired) and some other senior staff members, including Chris Drum.
Kevin and Fiona Hicks are intensely proud of the business they’ve built through hard work, keeping up to date with training and surrounding themselves with talented, enthusiastic, friendly, trustworthy staff. Together, they are all very proud of now being the Goulburn Valley’s leading real estate agency.
