A little about me
After just three years as office receptionist with First National group, and a growing passion for assisting people with their real estate needs Gabi took on the role as Property Manager at a young age when the current property manager, who’d been with the company for nearly three decades, decided to retire. With her training, Gabi took on the role and thrived. Some years later she joined a new agency and grew the rent role from zero.
Always wanting a challenge, the “attempting” cook – who’d love to do a cooking and knife-skills class – thought she’d try different career options. “Funnily enough, they all happened to be based around property! I realised that I missed real estate, so came back into the industry in 2015 after three years.
“What I realised was that I really love helping someone achieve their goals. I actually enjoy the process to it all: helping the sales team achieve their best results in marketing and planning so that the customer can achieve their best results. The roles I did on my hiatus have all helped me look at real estate from a different aspect. They were valuable. I also love the diversity and freedom of this industry.”
Coming from a large local family, Gabi appreciates the team effort and environment at Kevin Hicks Real Estate. “I enjoy the mixed personalities and appreciate that everyone on the team has a different strength and perspective. It works.”
While her own two boys keep her busy and on her toes, she does love to get away with friends for a girls’ weekend shopping, and going to shows and concerts. “I love that we are able to enjoy the outdoors here in the Goulburn Valley and that my kids are surrounded by diversity, but also that we are so close to many other beautiful areas – wineries, mountains or even popping down to Melbourne.”
Gabi’s day-to-day favourite moments centre around helping people. “Also having people trust me with their investments and family-wealth potential is an honour too. I’m lucky enough to have made strong, lasting relationships with clients, colleagues and managers.”
However, her very favourite moment is when she won the Rising Star award for the Eastern Seaboard when working for a national group. “It was really lovely to be recognised not just for my efforts but for our office achievements together.”
